My friend's graphics card just died, so what better excuse to revamp his PC? Currently its an old core2 system, he can carry over the case, monitor, dvd drive, peripherels and so on. He's also got a fairly new StealthXStream 500W PSU which will be used to power this.

That's what I've come up with, but I just wanted to send this past everyone here incase I've missed anything or there are much better options out there. Also, he's going to need a cooler for the CPU, but I'm not sure on what the difference is between them all at the lower end, they all seem to be pretty similar. Looking to spend around £25 on one, but if there's one a little more expensive that would be much better, then its probably worth it, since he's going to have a go at overclocking it.

Only other question is about power for the GPU. It needs 2x6-pin cables, but the PSU only has one. Would the Mobo or GPU come with a molex to PCI-E power adaptor? Or would he need to find one from somewhere?

Thanks! :D

get the reatil version of the cpu, for an extra £6 you get a cooler and 2 extra years of warranty.
Its an extra £14 actually, the OEM one is on TWO

for the £25 on cooler, the tranquillo gets my vote.

however the stock cooler should be able to handle a mild overclock upto 4GHz.

everything else looks fine.

Hmm, if the stock cooler's that good, then £14 exta for 2 years warranty but not having to get a 3rd party cooler seems pretty decent value.
