Hey guys, my friend is building a new computer once he gets paid this week and this is what we have came up with. It will be for gaming mostly looking forward to BF3, Deus EX and a few other titles.

He currently has a ok screen which runs at 1600x1200 which he will upgrade the month later to a 1080p screen so just need a base unit right now.

Just wanted to know if the case is good with just air cooling or if its meant more fore a water cooling system.

with that you can get ram with fins if you so desired as the fins wouldn't interfer with the cooler, before anyone pipes yes I know the fins etc make no difference but not having a big heatsink gives the op/friend bigger choice to find ram they like.

have you considered ssd? 64gb crusial m4 is £78 and 128gb is £140(there are 256+ but you're looking at £290+).

this is prob another debate that hass happened a lot in here i can guess.....http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-153-EA&groupid=701&catid=1914&subcat=

for an extra 6 quid....the 6950 benches better in game but IMO the consistency in frame rate stays better with the big games like Bc2 etc...just like it will in Bf3 im sure.

but thats prob just an nvidia fan tryin to steer another ati boy :P

No fan boy here :). Just hoping to unlock the 6950 to a 6970. My friend doesnt like intel or nvidia at all thou not sure why, he was thinking to get a 6core amd and told me it was better for games till I showed him the light of SB.

Ive showed the case to my friend, he doesnt like it, I personal find its a odd shape more into stright clean lines with a case. Also he said he wont be getting a SSD till its a lot cheaper but ill show him the price of 64gb.

Finally any reason for that graphics card?

the sapphire toxic is the only one that has a chance of unlocking the shaders(I have 2 and have installed 1 so far and it unlocked, will be testing the other soon), there is no guarantee(sp?). amd put a stop to the shader unlocking a few months back, unless you get lucky with old stock you're out of luck unless you go with the sapphire toxic.

there is a bundle for the case you've chosen but the psu is 650w and the cooler is not as good as the h80, the psu maybe just good enough for 6950 xfire but if going with the toxic it may be cutting it even closer.

Hey guys, small update my friend really wants to get a screen now. Have to get it below £1000, I reduced a lot of the parts to make some savings just need help picking a mobo and a screen whats 1080p thats around 21" and still keeping the cost to £900, really wanted a Z68 but not exactly sure I can still do it.
