Hi,

Just before drunk me does something epically stupid (not uncommon :p) can someone just give this a once over to make sure I'm not doing something utterly stupid?

I know I've got a retail chip rather than OEM but it's only a fiver in it and can be easily changed.

This would be to replace a Q6600 system still rocking 4GB DDR2 RAM. Primary uses would be Gaming (I have a 7850 already), photo editing (v slow atm, major reason to upgrade) and browsing to argue with people on here and acquire fap materiel :p

HDD isn't essential but I am hoping to slowly replace some very old 320Gb disks!

Any changes you guys would recommend?

Well it'll all work together fine. Major gaff averted :D

Maybe a Gigabyte board would be a better choice simply for the UK RMA?

I was under the impression that Devils Canyon doesn't OC as well? Really not up to speed on this anymore!

I believe the oppostite to be true, at least with the flagship 4790k....not sure about the i5 version?

I've heard the opposite.

It certainly runs cooler, though trying to reduce the power usage they may have upset the Voltage flow/power flow/something like that. :)

The review's I've seen they easily hit 4.5-4.7ghz. Which is as good/better than First Gen Haswell.

Come to think of it I'm not sure why I bothered mentioning OC'ing as I got waaaay out of that game years ago :p

I think I'll go ahead and order Devils Canyon on the basis that it sounds cool as ****! :p
