Am going to build myself a new rig (current one is over 7 years old and is starting to feel it). Just wanted to double check thoughts before I hit the buy now button.

Overclockers don't stock all the parts I want unfortunately, hence no basket list...

Case: Corsair Carbide Series SPEC-03 Mid Tower Gaming Case

Main use of my PC is photo editing so have tried to spec it towards that while keeping it under the £500 mark. Am going to run Windows 10 on it, so no OS cost at the moment. Still need to pick an SSD to run the OS on.

Am going to pick an SSD for the OS and have three 1TB drives in my current PC I will just transfer and use. They hold all my data (no OS, etc) so really easy to transfer.

In regards to the PSU I'd picked it out because of it's Haswell compatibility, was struggling to find a lower spec'd/cheaper one that was compatible...

The board is expensive and the cooler is not as great as other sub £20 coolers.

Also try and get some RAM a bit faster than 1600MHz.
 
Thanks again, I'll look at the CPU coolers...

TBH I can source the Z97-K board for cheaper than OC at the moment, so am going to stick with it for the time being...
 
I'm ken on the Asus board as it looks like a good choice for longevity.

It has USB 3.0 support x4 and there is support for extra ones.

The on board graphics spec's look great, could probably even go without a graphics card to start with and add one later. Has support for 4 x RAM modules, so plenty of opportunity to expand up to 32GB if needed.

The H81 board that you suggested earlier looks like a good alternative but doesn't seem to be much room for future proofing IMO.

I can't see that 7870 in the Graphic card section in the Clearance Line. Still seeing the same 5 cards that have been there for the past week.
If I click the link in the specs I see it, other wise it does'nt show.

iirc one of the staff said that if the person who listed the product didn't put an item picture or something like that, it won't show on the clearance lines but does show on the search
