Evening, chaps. A friend has tasked me with speccing him a new tower. His budget is £1,000 and the system will be used solely for gaming. Here's what I've come up with:

YOUR BASKET
1 x KFA2 GeForce GTX 970 OC Silent "Infin8 Black Edition" 4096MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card **WorldWide Exclusive** £259.99
1 x Intel Core i5-6600K 3.9GHz (Skylake) Socket LGA1151 Processor - Retail £209.99
1 x Asus Z170-A Intel Z170 (Socket 1151) DDR4 ATX Motherboard £116.99
1 x Kingston Fury Black 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 PC4-19200C15 2400MHz Dual Channel Kit - Black (HX424C15FBK2/16) £79.99
1 x EVGA Supernova G2 650W '80 Plus Gold' Modular Power Supply £74.99
1 x Kingston HyperX Savage 240GB SSD 2.5" SATA 6Gbps Solid State Drive (SHSS37A/240GB) £64.99
1 x Phanteks Enthoo Pro M Midi Tower Case with Window - Black £59.99
1 x OcUK Tech Labs 240mm Extreme CPU Liquid Cooling Upgrade Bundle £57.88
- 1 x Asetek Premium Retention Kit Intel LGA115X (35-150-0000014) £4.00
- 1 x No Fan Controller Required £0.00
Total : £928.80 (includes shipping : Ex.VAT).

Can anybody improve on my choices, or highlight any errors I may have made etc.?

I was just looking at that, funnily enough - I'd forgotten overclockers do discounted bundles. I assume that Gigabyte board and the Asus I chose are pretty much on a par, so it's just a straight discount for near identical features/performance.

Thanks.

Looks a wicked rig!

So Don Stulid, when do I upgrade my 2500K, 8GB and 7990, or do I hold a while longer, light gaming at 1080p? 60hz

:D 2500k Is still great is it overclocked? 8GB ram is great for gaming still. Nvidia have some new cards launching at the start of next year (ish) may be worth considering picking up a new GPU then. Do you have a SSD?

Hi H

No I have not overclocked and I have an old Asus genie board languishing somewhere too! I have an SDD.

Sir Stulid put me onto the bargain 7990 over a year ago.

Need to oc that CPU and maybe a new card, but that depends if the 7990 Is hold your life back.

Hi, nope it is fine, I am playing Planetside 2 at 1080p and it looks lush.

I will have a go at OC-ing, sounds great.
