My cousin has asked for some advice on a gaming machine.

I have a spare OCZ 90Gb SSD (not great i know but should do for the OS), have said he can use my 7850 and also have a windows license he can use.

The monitor he has is a Samsung Syncmaster 226BW which from a quick Google only looks to be 720p but he may upgrade that later if he enjoys PC gaming.

He'll be playing games like assasins creed and COD. budget is around £500.

I've come up with the below but was unsure on what air cooler to go for:

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £488.10
(includes shipping: £13.20)

Go for a coolermaster 212 evo cooler imo its the best value air cooler

You will also need thermal paste as well

However that mobo and cpu is overkill for that graphics card and monitor combo, better off with something cheaper, and keeping money towards a monitor and gpu upgrade.

This combo would save your cousin £60 and would still have him on skylake

However going with a cheaper 6 core amd processor would save your cousin another £60, and would still handle games fine but you would need DDR3 memory, and not DDR4, but the £120 saved on the orignal build you picked out would be better suited towards a GPU/monitor combo.

Cheers for the suggestions guys, think i'm going to recommend him the following and then let him choose a case and recommend waiting for either the 1070 or 480 to be released.

Opted for the slightly more expensive PSU as it is fully modular which will help for cable tidying. What do you think?

If you want a modular unit then the Antec Edge is better for £3 more. It is also made by Seasonic.

Also the Asus H110M only has 2 ram slots so that was the reason I specced a single stick, as it gives you the option to add another 8GB later on.

Ah good spot, I'll update it and then have a chat to him :) out of interest can anyone recommend a monitor in case he wants to grab one as well?
