Thanks bud - don't need the sata drives he has some, and need a 500 odd SSD.

He chose the case, apologies I should have listed this.. I'll fire back at him though and nets a large saving.

I had a 1070 for my 3440x1440 and it was fine, 1080 should last him a few years? Idea being the monitor should be good for a long time with the 100Hz / G-Sync

Will that ram be OK @ 3200 And the board be OK with 3.8Ghz odd? Or just run it at 3000Mhz and the Ti will be a much bigger improvement for the cost saving?

I think I can adjust with your feedback above and squeeze a Ti in perhaps if that's the case.

b350 boards run just as well as the x370 - you'll find we recommend them more . The strix B350 can handle 3333hz but all depends on the luck of the draw with your CPU chip

I redid the x370 taichi bundle to hit £2400 - that board can handle faster ram speeds up to 3466 currently

the Ti is a good 30% jump over the 1080 and at the resolution he'll like the grunt of it! should push it over 60fps - Ti is only card that can handle 4k decently and ultra wide 1440p is the nearest to matching that pixels but is able to have monitors that go above 60hz

the ammend taichi bundle might be a better shout for the 1600 but you'll use the Phanteks case which is restrictive in airflow!

pros and cons - if you happy to drop the case- the taichi deal is a no brainier , with all that kit and it performs well will all memory, specially 8-packs own!
if your friend fancies the 1700 then again ditch the case and pick up the Gigabyte gaming 3 with the 1700 :)

along with ocuk awesome customer service, Gigabyte has its RMA center in the uk for both gpu/mobo and reps on here at hand .

slight cheaper prem feel case

He's set on the case, appreciate the airflow is not optimal, I have the same one :D

Ram is out of stock, alternatives?

Thanks for this btw - with your help we have upgraded to the Ti for almost the same budget :D

Damn, that looks good ! Using that PSU for a friend's build with 1700 and 1080, not modular which is a shame but have no coil whine when gaming /rendering bar unigine valley which is to be expected

Have you or your friend seen the new Phanteks Halo rings ;)

Glad could help with the Ti, worth it at that Res or for a greater life span

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £459.88

just £10 short between the two with the above savings.....haha

wait, if you use PSU suggested above... that covers the CPU upgrade!!!!!! boom

or you could put it to "TB HDD for games

that or @Plec anything good for £80 out there or we've missed ?

that or ditch the AIO and with savings so full water for CPU- okay its mainly for looks and should perform silently better and cooler but will look nice!

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £173.69
(includes shipping: £8.70)

if thats overkill

beef up the AIO
My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £114.89

over m.2 NVMe drive, just for OS and standard apps. keep the SSD for games
My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £77.69

to be honest, would drop the ASUS prime x370 for b350 Gaming 3 or b350 Strix to be honest . main thing with x370 is ability to SLi- if going x370 route then get the best boards available

that AIO in the case, but not might be able to mount at top due to high profile ram. you can take the tops off though, 8-pack said it makes no difference to the rams heat

Too late :D

Ah, worse case will just mount it at the front of the case :)

We swapped to it to match the case..

swapped the board to match the case? worth checking the bios support and what 8-pack managed to get with his ram on that board .

main reasons Gaming 3 and Strix get recommend all the time or B350 and Taichi and Crosshair for the X370

***before calling check out 8-packs ram page to see what he got. or see mobo section of google for any Prime owners.
Asus Bios is one of the easiest to use to be fair
