Any comments on the below spec? I'll use my current PSU:

This is my budget stretched to £750, will upgrade the graphics card later if needed, though I'm not a heavy duty gamer...

Will that CPU cooler fit the AM2 CPU dude ?

You've put an AM2+ cpu with an AM3 motherboard there, it's only the AM3 CPU's that can fit in it. So you can either get the AM3 X3 720BE or 810 (If you really need quad), or change the motherboard to an AM2+ socket.

You've not shown a PSU either.

I'll do an AM2+ spec and an AM3 spec in a min.

AMD tri core DDR2 setup

AMD tri core DDR3 setup

AMD quad core DDR2 setup

To balance it all out, an intel dual core setup

AMD have the price vs performance at the moment. It all depends on what you plan on using the PC for, for a lot of mulit-tasking, encoding etc I'd go with the quad core setup. For gaming purposes, I'd go with either the tri core or intel dual core. All above systems will be good no matter what though, just some better at certain things than the others.
