Hi all,

I'm looking to upgrade my system in July & I have some questions around what is best to go for & compatibility etc.

So far I "know" I want:

https://www.overclockers.co.uk/sams...3.0-x-4-nvme-solid-state-drive-hd-215-sa.html - £139.99

https://www.overclockers.co.uk/wd-r...-s-64mb-cache-hdd-oem-wd40efrx-hd-408-wd.html - £134.99

I already have a case, PSU, Sound Card etc.

But I just was unsure on:

1. What Mobo's are compatible with the SSD above (I know it's some new M.2 type connector) - judging from the site it seems most new ones are compatible.?
2. I'm thinking of the Intel i5 6600k as it seems to have a good price/performance ratio - what's a good mid/high end mobo to go with this?
3. GFX wise I'm looking at a 1070 - hoping they come down in price a little over the next month. Using a 1080p monitor.
4. Ram - will 16GB be sufficient or should I go for 32GB?
5. I have a Superflower 650W PSU - should be sufficient for the above spec yes?
6. Any ideas on the best £40/£50 cooler for this CPU that is relatively silent? I was looking at this: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/cooler-master-hyper-212-evo-cpu-cooler-hs-035-cm.html

Any help, advice & guidance is appreciated.

Thanks

Tom

Sorry,

Budget is around £1000~

Usage as a media server for my films & gaming (likely newer titles like Doom, BF1 etc).

Ok so no need for a 1070 then - great!

The motherboard/ram is the main thing - I don't know what brands/models are good these days as there are so many.

Ok cheers,

Shall I just stick with that Coolermaster CPU cooler then?

This is currently the inside of my PC:

Might just go for that Asus mobo then... Hopefully it works with that M2 SSD

is that much better that Mobo?

Can't tell if that Coolermaster 212 evo will fit my case.

it says its 157mm high.

My case is 210mm wide - Lian-Li PC-B25 Blue Ring.

can't find anywhere online which says the max cpu cooler clearance.
