Hi there, In the next two weeks I will be building a desktop system for a friend of mine.

The computer will be used for a whole range of things, with a high amount of software being used at once, also he is keen to get into some games.

The budget is 700 / 750 quid, with everying needed really, he has a mouse and speakers :)

I have a spec in mind with a Core2Duo chip and 2 gig of RAM but I was wondering if you lot would mind specing something to compare.

Thanks

Blair

I'm assuming for a second here that your friend doesn't need Windows, given that assumption this is probably what I'd go for although probably with a bigger hard drive.

That sounds really good. How is the motherboard? I have an ASROCK in my 939 system and its running good but ill have to read up on this one :)

The board i was going to use is this one Gigabyte GA_945PL_S3 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard (MB-064-GI)

I will read up on both :) as they are similar price:)

The motherboard is fairly solid, it doesn't have fantastic overclocking options but then given it is mATX that is hardly surprising. Have a quick check of the motherboards forum as there should be some futher information in there.
