HI guys, sorry for a general request for help but have been mulling over a motherboard/cpu/memory upgrade from my current setup (asus p5b/2gig crucial ballistix 6400/Core2duo 2.13ghz).
Think motherboard wise, have kinda got it down to the Asus P5Q Deluxe and DDR2 memory but cpu wise am mulling over the E8600 3.3 Ghz dual core vs Quad Q9550 2.83Ghz. I tend to use Photoshop a fair bit but benchmarks on http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/cpu/display/core2duo-e8600_8.html show the dual slightly ahead. Machine is also used for gaming and video encoding a little.
Memory , well I would like to throw 4Gb at it and get Vista 64bit but usually go for Crucial Ballistix , though posts here kinda show ppl arent too happy with them dying a fair bit.
I will overclock as happy to do so, overclocked my 2.13 to 3 quite happily but its going to be used in another machine now (partners
)..
This is going to be my last upgrade for a year or two so want something quite future proof (yeah I know thats never possible lol).
Would love some recommendations on the cpu and memory pls
