Due to too much work over the last few years Ive no idea whats good and whats not at the moment. My last upgrade along time ago was a 6300 and a P5B deluxe. It seems this is finally dieing and Im in need of an upgrade. Assuming it is my motherboard thats giving me the trouble whats my best buy for around £200 for both mother board and processor. I would like to re-use my memory which is OCZ plt DDR 800 and does around 900 MHz. Ideally I want to overclock as much as possible and it will mostly be used for games.

Asus P5Q Pro at £88.11 and a E8500 at £129.24 would be a good combo. Would have gone for the E8400 if it was in stock. You will need a decent cooler as well if you don't have one.

If the cpu is too much then the E7200 is an excellent alternative at £84.59.

also I have an artic freezer with is ok but I think its time for a change

Easily get a 4g OC with the E8500if your mem will do 900mhz you can use a fsb of 425x9.5 cpu multi= 4037.5

I would upgrade the cooler if it was me but no harm in trying to see how well it performs with the OC, personally I have been using a Zalman CNPS9700 and the Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme black edition(selling soon as to big for my 900 case to use side fan) which do a good job after being lapped.

Last question, I was tending towards a dual core again, but is there any reason that Im not aware of to invest in a quad yet (like 20 new fantastic games yer I no Im dreaming)
