thanks for replying so quickly, i forgot to add, she wants to be able to play Counter-strike:source on it with reasonable quality. her system she has now is on motherboard graphics and its nearly dieing, its a windows 98.

Can we say that the IDE PATA HDD is reuseable? The case? CD ROM?

Can they play games under Linux - allowing us to ignore Windows in our specs? Wink Wink.

nope has to be a whole lot. well actually could exclude the case and hard drive i guess and the dvd drives


just need a mobo cpu oporating system, psu, ram, gfx card

E4300 around 100
Asrock Dual VSTA 35 (OCUK DOES NOT STOCK THEM, so you will have to look on your own)
GPU 7600GT 80 or so

If the ram is DDR ram is here current PC, use that in the motherboard, it supports DDR1 and DDR2 ram.

Use the rest for her PSU/OS.
