Hi,

Bit of a general question that has been raised by my son,his boss has asked him to spec him,two new computers for his work where he wants fast loading pc's used for 3d design drawing work,i am not sure exactly which software they use but i would think something along the lines of a basic cad type thing, though i do not think they are doing very advanced stuff,so if you knowledgeable people could help would be much appreciated. If there is a premade which is suitable that would be good option too.

3D drawing is CAD work i assume, so Soldiworks, AutoCAD ect.

These don't actually require a huge amount of power. a lot of RAM is useful. Nvidia CUDA technology also helps.

What kind of budget? and are both PCs the same? or for different uses?

At a low budget, something like this will be perfect.

Thanks for quick reply ,that looks good i would say budget upto 600-700 ,would it be better with 16 gb of ram for this sort of work, i also need to find out if they already have os too.

16Gb would be good. If its not too intense 8GB will suffice.

I was doing a render (from solidworks) a few months ago and i ran out of RAM. It was using all 8GB to do a render. It was a super-high quality A1 sized render though.

Another Spec: This has an ivybridge i5 and 16Gb of RAM

Would certainly go for 16Mb of memory.
I see OP not sure about o/s , but I would consider W7 Pro 64bit OEM , would avoid W7 home, as it's limited to 16gb of memory.

Doomedspeed: What's that Geil Dragon memory like, have you used it?
