Hi All,

I looking to build a fast development rig, running mainly vm images and other non graphic applications. It must also be as quiet as possible.

I was looking at:
Q6600 Quad core
Tuniq tower 120 cooler
Abit IP35 pro

and 2 x Corsair 4GB DDR2 XMS2 Dominator PC2-8500C5 TwinX (2x2GB) Supplied with Airflow Fan (TWIN2X4096-8500C5DF) = 8GB

other stuff:
36gb 10k rpm raptor as a system drive
2 x 150gb 10k raptors in raid0
Seasonic M12 Modular 700W Silent ATX2.0 Power Supply
Antec P180 case
other 9 bladed 120mm fans (tbd)
a cheap grapfx card - heatsink only.

I'm planning to install windows 2003 64 std.

My question is:

Is this memory OK for this config (yes I need 8GB)? with this amount of memory and type - how far can I overclock the 6600.

..and should I skip the tuniq and go for a w/c solution

Any thoughts

Thanks

Mike

Thanks for the replies, here is my revised kit list:

Antec P182 case
Akasa ultra quiet 500w
Abit IP35 pro motherboard
Q6600 oem processor
Noctua NH-U12P CPU Cooler (Socket AM2/LGA775)
Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Compound (3.5g)
2 x Corsair 4GB DDR2 XMS2 PC2-6400C5 TwinX (2x2GB) = 8GB
1 x 36gb raptor (system drive)
2 x 150gb raptors (raid0) applications
Zalman ZM-MFC1 Plus Black Multi Fan Controller
2 x Noctua NF-S12 800RPM 120mm Silent Case Fan - 3 Pin
LiteON DH-16D2P-04C 16x DVD-ROM (Black) - OEM
Asus ATI Radeon EAH3450/HTP/256M 256MB DDR2 TV-Out/DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail

Does this look ok?

to run:
Windows 2003 64 and applications - mainly vmware server.

I noted in another forum that you can oc this chip to 4ghz !! - however, I only really want to go to 3ghz - as I want a quick stable environment.

On the memory list its
Corsair 4GB DDR2 XMS2 PC2-6400C5 TwinX (2x2GB)

800MHz RAM Speed, CAS 5-5-5-12 Timings, 1.8-1.9v VDIMM, Lifetime Warranty with Corsair.

Which I think was the same as the memory you had previously recommended
