A mate is looking for a new PC and wondering what the best way is to go about it, buying a pre-built or building his own. Total budget is around £800 max, but he does need everything.

Have specced a quick one but it came out just over £800 budget, that was with the Argon i3 530 overclocked bundle, 4GB ram, 1TB hdd, 5770, FD Define R2, and Benq LED 21.5" screen.

Any suggestions on changes or complete re-specs?

Did also try changing most components with a barebone and that came out £70 cheaper but didn't offer the same cooling or upgradability.

AMD alternative :p

£830 with free shipping.

Obviously no cooling upgrade but you can always add that later if he decides he wants to overclock. :)

How about this, it's missing a monitor but I've been looking for a new one and said that he could have mine for £80. So just under his budget.

Looks pretty good, one small point is that PSU only has 1x PCIE connector and the graphics card requires 2. You can of course use a molex converter for the other one but I always prefer to use PSUs with enough 6/8 pin connectors.
