Im looking to build a new home server connected to the network to

a) back up automatically the two computers on our network using a written .bat file.
b) save ~150gb of torrent data to upload/download (utorrent)

Looking to spend ~£500, it will be left on nearly 24/7, maybe a weekly reboot if needed.

I can use my monitor/keyboard etc for setting up and an optical drive from a current build if needed. Looking for at least 1tb for backup + torrenting.

Thanks

I got a QNAP ts-201 which I have all my files on, its a good box and does torrent downloads, i got torrentflux installed on mine, although I would say to get the 209 pro version as its got a lot more for it (runs debian insted of busybox like the 201 does).

i dont think it can do torrents no, its strictly NAS but the scheduled backups are brilliant, just installed one to an office network 1 TB raid 1, fast and quiet with a hell of a lot of storage and a media server, cant wish for much more
