Spec for Around £1200

Friend needs a PC specced, it's not a gaming machine as such, more he wants speed in everyday usage...he wants it based around the X2 4800 and to have 2GB RAM...he does not need a monitor, keyboard, mouse, soundcard or opticap drive, and he wants it based around the Akasa UV Case...a good enough GFX card like the X1800XL would be a bonus too

It's got an X2 4400+, it's only 200MHz less than the 4800+ and saves a lot of money, the 4800+ really isn't worth the extra £. As requested it has an X1800XL, 2GB RAM and the Akasa UV case. A 250GB HD and a 620W modular PSU to power it all up.

The above spec is looking good. I second the recomendation that the 4800 is a complete waste of money compared to a 4400.

Although if he isn't gaming then getting an x1600 instead of the x1800 might be an idea to save money.

Again, the 4400+ can be overclocked to 4800+ speeds with ease, saving lots of money. The raptor for ultra fast boot up and general usage. The 200gb for storage. X1800XT for games, if required at a later date. Tagan modular PSU. Can ditch the arctic cooler as the X2's come with good stock coolers.
