Evening all,

I need some help choosing a system to run my EPOS within my shop. The company installing the EPOS system have given me some rough guidelines as per the below, I'd be interested to see what you guys think of it. They have quoted me over £700 for the computer alone - no chance!! Help overclockers! :)

Computer

i3 CPU
4GB ram
500GB HDD
32 bit (not sure why I can't go 64 bit?)
Wireless network card
17" monitor

Windows 7
MS Office

Flat Screen for shop to display latest offers etc

Must have VGA connection (not HDMI) - I am querying this with them as to why
36" +

Back up

2 x USB HDD (one off site)

Hmm, we ran EPOS at the last place i worked and its far from demanding software unless its extremely poorly coded you wont need a £700 pc and the one up there is not £700 worth.

I ram it on N40L microservers with 2 Gb RAM at the time, after cashback you can have an N54L with 4Gb of RAM for £130ish £80 for windows and £80 for the monitor.

There is a lot of easy to customise free stuff out there running linux so have a look before you pay someone to overcharge you. not had a good look but this should get you started
