spec for mate

Hi just woundering if u can spec up a pc for a mate. Budget about £700, he wants dual monitors probably crt and he has hdd already. would be use mostly for gaming and programing.

o/cing at all? what size one monitors? is the hd sata or what? do you need keyboard, mouse etc?

Does your mate have anything already or does he need absolutely everything including dual monitors, all peripherals and software? If so he won't be able to get any CRT monitors from OcUK as they don't appear to stock any now, that leaves TFT monitors so to get two you have taken £200 or more out of the budget immediately so I suspect he'd be better starting off with one monitor and getting a decent system then adding another monitor when he has more cash.

he will need windows but that has been taken out of the budget and kb and mouse aint an issue but appart from that he will need everything, size of the monitor doesnt matter but he would like it to run 1600x.. res if possible. I did recommend that he doesnt get 2 monitors atm, could you do a spec for both dual and single moitors so i can show him the difference.

hard drives are ata as he has 4 250gb so doesnt want to really change them to sata, so a sata dvd drive would probably be needed.

This might be suitable as the dual monitor system however your mate will need to buy an additional PCI ATA/IDE controller card since pretty much all socket 775 motherboards only come with one IDE port(i.e. 2 drives). Also note that this case is out of stock but that should be only temporary.

Third option would be a single monitor capable of 1680x1050, you still have 2gb Ram but a slightly worse graphics card than in both and you are back to the mATX motherboard so limited overclocking options.
