Doing a 'home office' build for my Mum. Will be for word, excel etc plus iplayer, youtube. Nothing intense.

Will need to purchase windows, mouse and KB plus all main components. Will not need monitor as i have a 24" thats not needed with hdmi, dvi vga inputs.

I have a bitfenix prodigy itx case than can be included in the build if it saves cost. Also have a spare hyper 212 cooler, but probably unnecessary. Can probably find a 1TB hard drive if desperate.

Would like to make storage as simple as possible as she wont know about separating data between drives.

Budget target of £400

Um, windows? XD

EDIT: Dont worry actually, i can work it from here. Thanks :)

EDIT 2: Could you possibly recommend a Gigabyte board of same form factor? Dont want to have warranty issues later down the line.

Noticed that the SSD promptly disappeared :P

Is there a suitable way to simplify storage options so that my mother can get the low cost capacity but without complex data moving? Previously ive just moved the pictures and music folder for example, and add shortcuts to the original location. Not sure if this is the best method though.

Yes - you can change the location of the desktop, downloads, pictures, movies, documents etc (right click -> properties -> location -> Move onto storage drive/HDD/whatever) so you don't even have to use shortcuts, the default locations are those :)

At least on Win7 that is the case

ninja edit :p

Once Windows is setup you can click each folder and change the default location to the mechanical drive (which you can do :)) and any software which gets installed can go on the SSD.

Ye, thats how i did it before, but you need to add the shortcuts on the original drive so that they can find the folders if they look manually :P

Looks pretty good for just over £300, i would have thought 4GB of memory minimum would be more practical though. There is not a 2GB limit or something with kabini?

Thats excellent guys, thanks. Saved me a bunch of time this evening :)

Given my recent issues with MSI, im a little apprehensive but since its through OCUK, im confident they will sort anything just fine.
