I'm finally getting round to replacing my Athlon 3500 machine and am close to ordering the following:

Asus P6T Deluxe v2 Intel X58 (Socket 1366) PCI-Express DDR3
Intel® Core™i7 Processor i7-920 (2.66GHz)
Corsair 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 2000MHz Dominator GT Triple Channel i7 Kit
EVGA GeForce GTX 285 1024MB GDDR3 PCI-Express Graphics Card
Prolimatech Megahalems Performance CPU Cooler
2 x Noctua NF-P12 Vortex-Control 120mm Quiet Case Fan - 3 Pin
2 x Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB SATA-II 32MB Cache – OEM
300GB WD VelociRaptor® SATA 16MB CACHE (10,000rpm)
Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium - Fatal1ty Champion Sound Card
Antec 1200 Case
Antec CPX850 850W Modular PSU

Apart from being the household workhorse I want it specifically to run Flight Sim X and I will be dual booting into the Raptor to run that.

Am I good to go? :)

Nice build mate, lots of power XD.
Nice choice of case also, i have it's little brother (902) helps keeps things nice and cool.

also if you can move one of the drive bays up to the top so it can bring air in over your cpu should help with temps a little.

i would swap that raptor for either just a sammy f1 or an SSD:D

and i would only think one fan is required for the cpu cooler because the rear exhaust fan is so close to cpu cooler:D

i'd swap the gtx285 to a bfg one personally, cheaper and have the best customer service. Component wise however looks like a pretty sweet setup you're going to have.

Thanks everyone!

I think 300Gb of SSD might just be beyond my budget. :D
I've gone for WD because of their better warranty though I am currently using Samsung.

I'll have a look at BFG though - good customer service can be invaluable!

I'd go with a 120 gb vertex and drop the ram to 1600mhz, as you don't gain much performance over 1333 as the triple chanel bandwidth is more than enough

what OSs are you dual booting and are the TB drives going to be in raid?

why do you need 300gb? how big is the flight simulator.

what speaker system are you connecting to?
Flight sim add ons, particularly scenery can be many gigabytes. The raptor's read times are excellent.
I have a Altec Lansing 5.1 setup (model name defeats me).

Since I don't possess Vista I shall be trying Windows 7 RC 64 bit until the retail product ships in October.
And given my track record for failed drives I will probably mirror them!
