Hi.
My Dad wants to look at buying a machine for use with Pinnacle Studio and to be honest I am not really that hot on video editing so not sure where the performance is required.
The camcorder is a HD Panasonic, which at the moment he is just importing to his laptop (C2D E6500(?) 1.6Ghz anyway) using Pinnacle and then 'Make Video' to burn to disk. This is the part that takes the time. Typically 5+ hours for 80 to 100 minutes video.
He will be properly editing the footage at some point.
I tried it on my PC which has an overclocked E8400 and it reduced to about 3 to 4 hours so obviously CPU is important but not sure if pure clock speed or cores is important? Would a quad core in mine make an improvement?
How would i5/i7 speed things up in comparison?
Does the graphics card have any impact - I assume not as 2D.
