Hey all

I was wondering if someone can help

Im looking to build something half decent for my son for xmas, So far i have come up with this bundle offer which i think looks pretty decent, My own pc is a 1090T with 6950 gfx which i built about 2 yr ago.

Anyway

AMD "Gamer Constructor" Bundle - Six Core
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=BU-084-OP

I will need a PSU for above and a gfx card. and i will use my own 1tb Hdd.

Im also going to need a case midi tower nothing fancy, And a monitor 22"

Was thinking of buying a second hand gfx card or spec me something half tidy to play Batman/Minecraft/Skyrim and a few driving games.

Budget is £400 and £100 for a monitor Total £500 could stretch a little more (£20-30) if i speak to the missus kindly.

Cheers all

Leigh

Looks very decent for the price.

These is on the cheapskate side of things :)

YOUR BASKET
1 x AMD "Gamer Constructor" Bundle - Six Core £229.99
1 x Iiyama ProLite E2278HD 22" Widescreen LED Monitor - Black £99.95
1 x MSI HD 7770 GHz Edition 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £95.99
1 x OCZ CoreXtreme 500w '80 Plus' Power Supply £32.99
1 x BitFenix Merc Alpha Gaming Case - Black £28.99

Maybe an extra £10-£15 for a optical drive, or you can salvage one from somewhere. Card is on pre-order. There are a few good 7850 / 7770 around that budget.

Another idea

1 x Intel Core i3-3220 3.30GHz (Ivybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor (77W) - Retail £99.95
1 x MSI HD 7770 GHz Edition 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £95.99

Total : £481.94 (includes shipping : £11.75).

That does give you the option for a 2500K / 3570K second hand, and a better PSU / case for the budget.

Something like this? Gives you the option to put in something like a 2500k/3750k later, could downgrade to 7770 if you really wanted to keep to the budget, but the 7850 is worth the extra :p

I want to go with the bundle deal

AMD "Gamer Constructor" Bundle - Six Core
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...odid=BU-084-OP

I just bought a second hand xfx 2gb 6950

These PSU's were recommended above will they power the 6950 ok? or which is better? or do i take it pay the extra and get the Corsair?

Corsair Builder Series CX 500W V2 '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply (CP-9020047-UK) £49.99
or
OCZ CoreXtreme 500w '80 Plus' Power Supply £32.99

Cheers all

Well i thought it looked kinda great for the money and i am happy with my AMD. But there are so many motherboards and processors and combinations to choose from im kinda lost, I thought because overclockers but the bundle together the parts are well matched.

Maybe im wrong

If there is a better amd deal for the money ? or that MB Is not that good?

Cheers

Well you might as well get a Ivy i3 as it costs the same amount and the motherboard will be able to support an i5 upgrade in the future which easily beats any current AMD offerings. The latest Piledrivers perform simialry to the most recent Phenoms, yours included I believe?

Had another re think and noticed that the amd's are power hungry.

Ok guys how about this:-
Intel Core i3-3220 3.30GHz (Ivybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor (77W) £99.95

Gigabyte Z77-D3H Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard £79.99

Patriot Viper "Black Mamba" Generation 3 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (PV38G160C9K)£29.99

OcUK 22x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter £14.99

Im Using a xfx 6950 2GB graphics card and have a Western Digital 1tb Hdd.

Would the ocz 500w psu power this lot above ok or would i need to go to 600w or something, Bear in mind i have no case yet which would probably have 1 or 2 fans fitted

Cheers

i5 and i7 are fantastic cpu's

I have just come from an i3 and whilst it is a superb chip for general use, it will be working flat out in gaming.

You may get the same or better framerates with i3 (in games) however, I suspect that the AMD true quad or (six) core experience will be smoother.

I was looking at the AMD Piledriver FX-8 Eight Core 8320 Black Edition which is on offer £125.99
to go with the asrock ASRock 990FX Extreme3 AMD 990FX £90.98

with Patriot viper memory

The only thing that put me off was the power consumption of the 8320 but it looks great for the money, I have read too many threads now.. Very confusing.

The corsair cx600 would run all the systems quoted above ok? and run the mentioned 8320FX no probbs?

Cheers

Ok so i think i can push the boat out a bit more and get an i5 3330 and i think im done so no problems with this cpu? it will run most new games on pretty high settings ok?
