Hey guys,

At the end of July I'll be upgrading (starting my homework early!) and I'm after some advice… for my current setup, see sig.

I only ever upgrade ever few years, but when I do I generally do the lot! I've been after upgrading my graphics card for a while but haven't got round to it, so that’s due too ;)

I'm seriously interested in starting with a 2600k as a starting point but I'm hazy on everything else? My computer is used for everything; gaming/web/office/dtp.

I suppose what I'm really asking for help on is ram/gpu/mobo. I also want to get an ssd/psu, but that can wait for now.

Any thoughts?

Cheers!

AMD Bulldozer should be out in June so perhaps you should wait to see what that offers.

The end of July is a long time away in PC terms.

Do you really need an i7? You could just get an i5 for quite a bit less with basically just the loss of hyperthreading. You wanna look at P67 motherboards (been hearing good things about the MSI GD65 and Gigabyte UD4). You should be fine with 4GB of RAM unless your doing any heavy video editing/encoding or anything so something like Corsair XMS3. Don't really know too much about GPUs but all depends on your budget really and your preference on nvidia/ATI. I don't know much about the nvidia boards but for the 5850 and 6950 seem to be popular choices depending on your budget. If your not buying till July, it might be worth holding out till BullDozer and seeing how they do.
