Spec Help For £550 Desktop Appreciated

Evening,

Long time lurker, first time poster.

I have decided to build my first ever pc and would really appreciate your advice. The pc would be used for mainly gaming, photoshoping and burning the odd DVD. I already have a monitor, operating system, keyboard and mouse. I would ideally like the system to include an Intel Core 2 Duo and also an X1950Pro. My budget is £550.

Would 2 gigs of ram make a huge difference to the machines performance if I could squeeze a little extra money into my budget?

Welcome to the forums, that is a good specification from Raikiri, if you can find the additional cash for 2gb Ram then it would help with large image files and some games, it isn't necessary but it would certainly come in handy at times. It is one of the easiest upgrades to perform later if needed, there are no limitations on having 4 sticks of Ram with socket 775 CPUs like there are with socket 939.
