Not going to run around checking prices and specs, but off the top of my head:

2.2Ghz Core 2 Duo ~ £50 (it overclocks LOTS)
Asus P5K ~£70
2x1GB OCZ Platinum PC6400 ~ £35
Ati Radeon HD3850 ~£105
Average Case ~ £30
Corsair VX520 ~ £55
Arctic Cooler 7 ~ £14
Decent DVD drive ~ £15

~£375...hmm tell you're friend to stop being a jippo and pawn some gold jewellry for the extra £40 :)

Tbh, if it's not for games he can just get a crap graphics card for half the price, then you're in budget.

Something like this?

Nah, you want:

AMD Athlon 2600+ with Overheat Technology (tm)
Ati Radeon 9700 Pro, Noise enhanced Edition
Sound blaster 128 bit
MSI Motherboard
Cream ATX case.

I know where there's one going cheap lol :D

As above (petelucky) with the 3650 and e1200 Celeron, both are similar performers and the Celeron will OC well.

Gets it down to about £330 delivered.

Supoirb, and thanks for the giggle V3g3to, I showed him that and he's in creases also. But it is fairly true, the cheap skate.. lol

Thanks

1 x Foxconn P4M9007MB-8RS2H Socket 775 P4M900 onboard VGA DDR2 mATX
1 x Seasonic S12II 330W PSU
1 x Creative Inspire 245 2.0 Speakers
1 x Sony 3.5" Floppy Drive Black - OEM
1 x Intel Celeron 420 512kb Retail Boxed Processor
1 x Generic cheap DVD-RW drive
1 x Corsair 1GB DDR2 667MHz/PC2-5400 Memory Non-ECC Unbuffered CL5 Lifetime Warranty (single stick)
2 x Western Digital 160GB Hard Drives SATAII 7200rpm 8MB Cache - OEM (2x for RAID 1)
1 x Casecom KB-5510 Black/Silver Blue LED Mid Tower Case
1 x Sharkoon silent eagle 1000
1 x Scythe Ninja

Fairly quiet - very cool (single core core2duo runs very very cold and is easy to clock - although not on this cheap-o board). Fan is for intake - chip cooler runs without fan. Can get 2.5" drives which are much quiter suspended than the cheap drives listed for very very quiet PC. Cheap too.

1mb memory.
Workbench OS

I'll throw in the latest in Football Management sims in Sensible World of Soccer 95/96 and McDonalds(tm) Global Gladiators, where you fight off those health food hippies using your hamburger gun and sunglasses.

It comes with the keyboard AND floppy disk drive...BUILT IN! No more messing about with odd-shaped CD's, floppy disks fit in your pocket and hurt much more when thrown like a ninja.

Overheating problems? Solved! By Simply blowing hard on the external power supply for a few minutes.

£250, or can have it £550 for cash. Comes in environmentally friendly cardboard box that says 'Amiga' on it.
