Spec laptop £350 budget

Friend wants a laptop for his daughter who is doing an I.T course in something like tv media?

I have never bought or dealt with laptops, only desktops building them myself etc.

Can someone spec me a nice laptop for £350 that will be good for general use such as word/internet/dvd's etc - Cheaper the better! strict budget

Interested in Netbooks? If so then there are quite a few of those.

If it has to be bigger than a netbook and still be for £350 then choices are fairly limited I think... Dell Inspiron 15 base model is around that price but I am not sure if anyone has an experience with those.

+1 for a netbook, Samsung NC 10 is about that kind of price i think

cant really go wrong at that price as theyre all pretty similar specced.

id usually go for one of the dells or whatever is on offer on the high street. look for money off codes on places like ukhotdeals etc

dell inspiron 15 series, just under 350 and they are built very well, she can have a pink one too lol ( to my fiancee that would be important :/)

Yep, £349 gets you one with a 2GHz Pentium Dual Core, 3GB of RAM, 160GB HDD and Vista Home Premium. Should be plenty quick enough, especially after removing the unnecessary software they tend to come pre-installed with. A completely clean install of Windows is even better still.

i would advise a dell, or something that you can customise, then most money on the cpu and gpu if needed. Skimp a bit on the HDD and the RAM as these can be easily and cheaply upgraded later on
