Hey guys been out of the hardware loop for quite a while now. My current PC is:

opteron 146
DFI Expert
2GB Ram
X1800xt
200gb HD
500w Mod Enermax PSU
Lian li v1000+

So as you can its been a while since i have upgraded. I want a system that will play the latest games (Arma II & OFP II etc) as well as have lots of storage for downloads such as music & films etc. £1300 is my max budget but if you can it cheaper and still have a good system i will muchos happy.

A few things i definately want in my spec are:

NEC MultiSync 24WMGX3
Acoustic Energy Aego M 2.1 Speakers
1TB hard drive
good cpu cooler

Things i Dont like:

Gamming cases (i.e. antec 300) I hate these for some reason, i like good quality cases such as lian li, silverstone etc.

Im not to worried about fitting an i7 in to my budget, but i would like a quad core cpu so dont mind having the c2q. I will be overclocking my system!!

Appreciate your input!

Cheers
Murzo

Core2Quad Q9650 is likely your best bet. In gaming the i7 isn't much better, if at all.

With you going 24" you'll want something beefy in the GPU area. HD4890 or GTX275 should put you in the "good to go" category.

so you need keyboard mouse and OS too? If so its gonna be a push for a high end quad core system
Id recomend going the AM3 route personally

Sorry forgot to mention i dont need a keyboard, mouse or os. Are the AMD tri core's/quad any good? How are they for overclocking? Would i not be better of with intel c2q and overclocking it such as q8200 or q9550, these are all under £200.

oic
hmm that sounds great then 2 secs i go and change the spec:D

edit: the AMD tricore works out cheaper lol was gna spec a Q9550 but nvm

to include those and get a decent high end system youre gonna to have either a) increase budget by at least £100 or b) compromise on speakers and/or monitor

£46 over but I've included a decent sound card as if you are spending that much on a pair of speakers you don't wwant a low end sound card

glad you agreed but youre still missing his OS and keyboard/mouse

but i agree with teh extra £100

The best i can do on that budget, the screen is a killer for price on this, are you sure you really want it that much? If you was to go for a samsung at £200 would free up some money for the rest of the build.
