SPEC me £1500 MAX

On behalf of a friend, do him justice and spec him a rig for £1500 max to buy from OcUK.

He has laid down these guidelines:

500 GB Hard Drive atleast
Nvidia GPU
Monitor if possible (23"/24")

Will be for gaming, so sort him out.

Monitor would be nice, he has an OS to install. 23/24" monitor would be good if it can be done within budget. No need for keyboard/mouse etc.
 
Quality monitor, good gpu, mobo and psu both support the addition of a 2nd gpu later down the line if needs be
SSD for boot drive/few games and another drive for storage, with his budget could go for bigger SSD if desired to get more games on
Case is personal choice really but thats quite decent one, if he likes

if i had £1500 to spend on a new rig id pay the extra to get an i7 system not i5.

oh wait i am!

nice build Peter ;) although i wouldnt put a £50 psu in a near £1400 system, good value or not. id get a better psu.

If the OcUK staff told him right, then it's an excellent performing PSU.

If he wants to go SLI/really wants a PSU from a brands such as Corsair or XFX, that's fine, but I don't see why not to get the Sapphire.

thats cool i understand and i said it was good value im not taking anything away from it. i would still go for a bit more power and to me the caseing and fan guard look flimsy in the picture. its also an ugly brown colour aswell :D
id rather have a solid built black and blue 750w corsair.

Cheers guys, RJCs build looks good but I'll be pointing my friend away from the monitor as I've owned one myself and sent it back due to panel quality being crap (dead pixels / large gaps between pixel grids).

Also I seen the AKASA cooler is used a lot in these builds... is it better than NOCTUA etc now?

Make your mind up, lol

For pure gaming there really is very little if any difference between i5 and i7, and not much between them and the AMDs either, if he's doing any sort of coding/rendering or the like then yeah i7 no questions, but if not its horses for courses

No the Noctuas still better but its almost twice as much where as the akasa comes in at a more pallatable price
 
I should mention he plans to overclock it, so would a better cooler be advisable? How does the h70 look? Not been in the market so havent' been keeping up with reviews etc.

i was being sarcastic calling it the holy grail because Liampope and company was in the other thread. you wouldnt understand so butt out.

and this guys got £1500 to spend not £800. WAKE UP!
