Hi,

Been chatting to some people about iRacing and the common question arises what do I need to play this game, mostly in the area of which PC will run it. Rather than me getting it all wrong and it ending in fire and radiation with thousands dead, I thought I'd ask the experts. In simple terms I am seeking 2 form factor options; a HTPC and then small tower box. It needs to be able to run at minimum Hi-Def resolutions and if required plug into a projector or TV as well as normal monitors. Ideally the HTPC box will be quiet and rack mountable into Hi-Fi racking and all should be able to run it smoothly. If we could get this close to £600ish that would be great but this can flex a little. Not worried about screens, steering wheels or other peripherals, just seeking a couple of boxes which will run it well.

All help appreciated!

Housey.

£600 each, or for both?

If for both, you're looking at AM3 based systems, most likely X2 - possibly X3 and something like a HD5750 should be adequate.

Each Cookeh and it is an ish price so feel free to stretch it a little if needed.

Each!? Looking at the specs (yes finally found them :p) that seems overkill :p

Also do you need an OS?

Similarly, define small tower? Are we looking at mATX?

Don't focus too much on the price is what I was saying, 100 either way should no inhibit people giving the right spec. Windows 7 should be built in yes and small tower again should be simply something that will pop under a desk rather than on a bookcase.
