Hey!

Sorry I know there's a few posts already, but I've not found anything fitting to me currently, and anything on google seems to be a minefield!

I'm after a 27" 1440p 144hz or 165hz monitor. Ideally one without all these stupid UFO looking designs :P

Not sure if I should be bothered about going for curved or not. I work from home 4 days a week doing 10 hour shifts so use my monitors for text quite a bit, the rest of my time is filled with the odd FPS game and WoW.

Budget max of £300, don't really want to spend more than that as I'm keen to get a 3070ti soon enough.

Cheers

Safe to close thread. Ordered above G27Q on pre-order :)

Came down to a close Gigabyte G27Q vs LG UltraGear 27GP850 in the end. Gigabyte has the much better contrast ratio whereas LG has slightly better response time (probably unnoticeable difference between the two).

@Delta3D I'd be interested in hearing your experience with your new monitor once you've got it set up. I'm also looking for a 27" 1440p screen that can do 144/165Hz refresh, and the Gigabyte G27Q and LG 27GP850 are both on my shortlist.

Absolutely perfect! Couldn't be happier with it. The bezel is a little bigger than I expected, looks to be the same size as the 27GP850 one has, but I don't really notice it, never cared for borderless screens to be honest!

Colours are fantastic, so are viewing angles. Couldn't run 144hz through HDMI but that's to be expected, working sweet with a DisplayPort that came with the monitor.

Stand is sturdy and non obtrusive. Overall super happy, would buy again! Definitely glad I went for the G27Q being IPS/144hz rather than the VA alternative at 165hz.

I have a friend who also bought the same screen and he echos my feeling about it :)

Ive got this monitor has it a few years.

Its mostly good, couple of things that I don't like.

- Doesn't handle HDR well, not for games anyway, had all sorts of weird things happen until I disabled HDR

- Switches mode not long after going into a game, I looked through a Reddit and seems to suggest it switches power mode or similar, basically there is no difference to you, other than your monitor completely blacks out for a few seconds, but it's disconcerting.

- you can't change the input easily, this is fine if you only ever plan on using one input (eg your pc) but for me I need to switch it between my laptop and pc during the day, and the button to do this is behind the monitor, and it's awkward.

- the bezil is wierd in that the actual as screen doesn't go all the way to the edges on the top and sides, only the bottom, there is a small gap on my what you would think would be screen as space that actually isn't.

You can live wirh the above, overall I like the monitor and offers good value for what you get, but the above points are just some lack of quality issues.

My opinion on these points from my own experience:

HDR - Worked okay for me but wasn't really anything special

Switching modes - Mine's never done this? Using DisplayPort at 1440p/144hz, never encountered any kind of switching mode or anything.

Input - You can set a shortcut on a button, IE mine's set to if you push the button right, it brings up all the inputs, just a select and enter thing from there.

Bezel I would agree on, although I don't notice it on mine personally.
