Spec Me: £2k motorway commuter and weekend lolz machine

Chaps,

Looking at facing a longer commute for work, about 1h30m from Reading to Bedford, using a lot of motorway.

I want something that'll be comfortable for commuting on, but not soul-destroyingly boring when I'm not on the motorway. I won't be getting rid of the Bonnie, and I've wanted something different for a while, so I want something that'll eat up miles, but also be fun for the weekend.

I was originally thinking of a sporty 600, but am concerned about comfort over lengthy motorway distances. I've not tested anything yet, but am looking for suggestions for a shortlist including all types of bikes.

Budget is approximately £2000. Any thoughts?

what happened to the 675?

It's still an option, if I decide to spend a bit more. But I'm looking at spending a little less and getting something that's more comfortable for a daily motorway commute. I'm not sure the Daytona ticks that box.

Thoughts on commuting 1hr+ daily on a Daytona?

The VFR sounds interesting though, I shall have to go and check it out, along with the CBR600F. Those are the primary two I had really considered in the past, so it's good to hear my original thoughts aren't way off the mark.
