Have around £150, need motherboard with a good chipset, cpu ( low power or enegy saving and 2gig mem, btw i'll be runng 8450, no crossfire, board must have hdmi out for for later use in a media center.


Intel Core 2 Duo E7200 2.53GHz (1066MHz) Socket 775 3MB, thinking of this.

What would you deem a "good" chipset? £150 for a "Good" motherboard and CPU is a tight budget.

Scotsman hitting budget... who'd have thunk it

That's about the best you could hope for with that budget but i wouldn't refer to that motherboard as "good". Personally I'd recommend saving up a bit more and getting a better board.

Excellent cpu that will clock to around 3.6Ghz if needed. Terrible motherboard though. A Gigabyte P31 DS3L would be much better if you can find one. A look on the bay would be good as well. I got a brand spanking new Gigabyte P35 DS3R on there this morning for £28 + del.

***Edit*** Failed on the HDMI out though.

Intel Core 2 Duo E7200 2.53GHz (1066MHz) Socket 775 3MB, for 78.99 now have around 80-90 for motherboard (hdmi) and 2 gig memory i do not want 4 gig memory any good boards for around the £55 mark.
