I would really appreciate it if I could get a spec for a family member for

£500


I got an email saying:"We would want to use it for music downloads, digital photos and possibly video, word processing etc"

Must have a 17" TFT and Firewire

EDIT: and now some casual gaming

anyway update.I eamiled just to make sure theres no casual gaming going on and there is!

email just come in:

"despite having a PS2, PSP, game cube and a nintendo DS the kids want to play games"

and now the budget is definatly £500

You could take Jaxon's suggestion. Change the Hard Drive to an 80GB SATA and change the case to an OCUK Value case or an ASUS case for a better PSU. That should bring you >£500

the x300 SE wont play games though? will it?

The Asus barebones comes with an onboard 9600

they won't want a SFF pc though.

I'm really stuck at what gfx card to get in this budget.

which would be ok but what is that gfx card like?
I have no idea about low level pc hardware whats better than the other low level stuff
