I will mainly use it for capturing and editing HD video

the 500gb is for a separate OS which is currently compatible with the 5770 gfx card as-well as the motherboard ( Would like to do this but not paramount )

is the memory good/compatible?

i was alternatively looking at this memory but the main difference i see is cost as i am not to memory savy

I would say my price range is 1200ish

Also would like it quite when idle

oh also will play games such as gta4,l4d2,bfbc2,settlers and new diablo 3 when it comes out

please advise me thank you :)

would go for a sata-600 HDD for your frame storage. and would suggest 2TB. or 2 x 1TB, as HD frames can quickly eat up a drive in no time. also go at least 8GB RAM, ideally 12. when you're trying to cache long HD edits you need the RAM. also depending on what editing software you use many have CUDA-enhancements for playback and rendering etc, so might be worth considering a geforce of some sort instead.

edit: that ocz 12GB is a much better option. and i see you're using AE, so yep, CUDA-enabled card will give you some speed increases for sure.

thanks for a quick reply, im not sure what you mean buy sata-600, a separate drive for scratch disc?

i will scrap the 500gb and get two 1tb for raid 0

also in the past with nvidia cards i have had have been either very loud or ran very hot any recommendations on a cool quite card? i guess i would be looking at the 460 range at the moment

np. sata-600 = sata-3 basically. a step up in speed from sata-2. im running a 2TB drive in sata-600 at the moment and it's quite a jump in speed from my older Sata-300 drive.

tbh the 580 is perfectly quiet for my needs but then i tend to have music going on all day long while I'm working :) a 460 would be another option, sure, but less longer-term value if you're waiting for diablo 3! (which may bloody well never arrive...!)
