Hey all,

Brothers looking to build a PC which will largely be used for games and not stressed much further (Games like Team Fortress 2 & Left 4 Dead Etc...) so not the most demanding of games, however he would like to run them at the highest quality possible.

He has £300 to spend and at a stretch will spend £350.

He's mainly looking for best bang for buck here and so im hoping someone can help spec him as I've been 'out the game' for a while now and am not sure on whats best for his money :(

He needs just the tower and nothing else (I will donate him my old keyboard, mouse etc.)

Thanks everyone!
Curtis

This will be a good spec for your brother, for the price you can't argue. The only issue with this type of build, is it isn't very future proof since it is hard to upgrade with this set of components without doing an entire new rebuild.

Thanks for the quick replies guys!

Ideally he would want it to be as future proof as possible as i have a feeling in a year he'll be yearning to upgrade due to the upgrade itch and will also want to upgrade when he has a little more money, and so i've managed to dig a 300GB Sata 2 hard drive out, and feel he wont need any more than 4GB ram as he's only playing games (unless there is only a tiny difference in price between 4 & 8GB)

He also wont have a need for a CD Drive as i've got tonnes lying around, i've quickly came up with an ivybridge rig as i know its better bang for buck against bulldozer gaming wise, and is a lot more upgradable, what do you guys think?

If you are going to be going with 4GB, then a single stick might make more sense as when it comes to upgrading to 8GB you will still have 2 slots available.

Didn't see he'd got a HDD... If that's the case go with an i3 and a 7850 build... I Built my missus a machine of this spec and it runs pretty much everything I can think of!

You might want to add a hard drive to the first one :D

That's my spec fella ;) He might need some sata cables if they are missing being a B grade mobo. The OP said he has found a 300GB HDD and a optical drive. He said he would go for 4GB unless 8GB wasn't much more expensive, which it isn't really

I meant neos build above :) Anyhow didn't realise that the op had salvaged a hard drive and optical drive.
