I think that's a very good point, to be fair.

Budget isn't an issue for me, but it's still sensible to have some sort of standard/parameter as you say. I'm considering a 3090 purchase so have opted for the X570 Tomahawk. With regards the RAM, I already have 16GB 3200 C14 B-die so the big question is whether I actually need 32GB. I'm reading here and there that it could be an advantage?

If 32GB is justified then I'll probably go for the B-die kit.

Pardon my ignorance (I really should know better with the amount of time & effort I throw at this hobby :p) - what would the performance difference be in terms of gaming FPS at 4k 120Hz, which is my primary use case?
 
Now that I'm gaming 4k 120Hz I'm seeing some high RAM usage, 12GB and over so I'm going to upgrade. I am want to keep it 2 sticks as Ryzen runs better dual channel.

Choice is either Corsair 3600 C18 or this Team Group set looks a great price, could I push it to 3600 without too much issue with the Team Group?

@Firegod what I'm thinking, is even if I had to run the TG kit at spec then would it be a big performance loss for the £50 saving? I'm thinking probably not a massive loss judging by previous comments in the thread.

I'm just wary that I'm missing something with such a gap in price.
 
This is an Aida benchmark of the current 16GB set running at 3600. I'll do the same test with the new kit when it arrives. :)
