The following can be found for £320 (forum rules prevents mentioning competitors).

Acer Aspire 5560G
Processor: AMD A6-3420M Quad Core (1.5GHz, , Up to 2.4GHz in Boost Mode)
Screen: 15.6" (Acer CineCrystal, 1366x768 HD, High Brightness, LED Backlit)
Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium Edition 64-bit
RAM: 4GB (DDR3)
Hard Drive: 500GB
Optical Drive: DVD Rewriter (Records DVDs 8x & CDs 24x & Dual Layer Super Multi)
Graphics: Dedicated (AMD Radeon HD 7670M with 1GB Dedicated RAM)
Wireless LAN Wireless (802.11b/g/n Wireless)

Usual extras, HDMI, card reader, that sort of thing.

You can pick up a copy of Microsoft Office Home & Student for maybe £70 or so.

Would be more than enough for schoolwork and Minecraft, and a smidge under £400.

Dell outlet usually has good deals if you don't mind refurbs / slightly used (from what I understand they are pretty reliable for ensuring they are still in v good condition), although you need to keep a regular eye on it to get the best ones. There should a few similar threads in this forum asking about similar things with the sorts of specs people have found. I recently bought for £400:

Inspiron 15R - 5520
Hard Drive : 500GB Serial ATA (5400RPM)
English Genuine Windows 7 SP1 Home Premium (64Bit OS)
Processor: Intel Core i5-3210M (up to 3.1 GHz, 3MB cache)
4 GB DDR3 Dual Channel 1600MHz SDRAM Memory (1 DIMM)
Graphics : 1GB AMD Radeon HD 7670M
Display: 15.6 inch High Definition LED Display (1366 x 768) with TrueLife

And from what other people on here say you can pick up better than that from there (I've just never seen much better and got bored waiting). There's doesn't appear to be anything great on there right now but they regularly put new stuff on there.
