Hi all, I'm looking for a new 4K capable compact camera, for YouTube videos. It needs to have a flip screen so I can see myself and preferably an external audio input, but this isn't essential, I can audio sync in post if necessary.

I bought a Panasonic Lumix DC-GX800 for under £200 at Christmas and am very happy with that, but they look to be back up around £300. I realise this will likely still be the cheapest option, but just wondered if there were other, better options around £500 and below?

I guess I could also be interested in a 1080p if it's good value and takes in external mic, but would rather future proof if possible.

Thanks :)

The Panasonic G80 is the camera you should be looking at. Covers what you've asked for but not sure if it is as compact as you want. Being that there is a G90 now it can be had at a very good price.

Sounds like you need to jump to a GH series camera. The gh4 is probably around that price range if you look hard enough and is very very good.

Looking at those made me think, I do have a Canon 760D in the cupboard, but I always thought it was too big and heavy for using on my desk... but maybe I just need to find the right mini tripod? At the moment I've got one of these and I wouldn't trust the ball joint at the top with that much weight.
