I need some recommendations for a new gaming computer I want to build. I am prepared to overclock but have no experience at doing it. I also need a OS, keyboard and mouse. I already have a screen and will look at getting a new one at a later date.
I want it to last as long a possible but not be too expensive. (budget as title says around £500-£600)
Thanks for any help

Slightly over but you can get basic keyboard and mouse to lower price.

Firstly, what resolution is the screen, and secondly:

I've done two builds here, one is AMD and the other is Intel. The AMD build gives you a true Quad-core CPU, whilst the Intel is a dual that has hyperthreading (so is a little like a 'fake' quad-core if you like). The Intel will overclock very well, though you'd need to upgrade the cooler a little first, otherwise temperatures will get a little high, and the fans a bit noisy.

The AMD build does have a superior graphics card to the Intel, but the Intel build does have £8 of wiggle room, so you could upgrade to the same for a little over budget.

Sorry for bringing this topic back but just came back from holiday and am still looking to buy a new pc. I can now increase my budget to £650. So would like suggestions on what to spend this extra money on. More specs if possible please.
Thanks

ah! cheers Redmint, was looking for that ram, for the above spec, but completely forgot it was in the clearance section.

I have bought Stulid's build but have now found that it did not include a Cd drive.
Was that a mistake or intentional; and does it mean I need to buy one to be able to install windows + drivers?

well suppose I could go down to a shop today, so nothing is lost just means the computer costs more than I thought it did.
