Hi guys could you please spec me a rig which will be used mainly for java development. Im not going to be gaming at all on this machine so no need for a decent graphics card.
I dont need an operating system, monitor or mouse/keyboard. I'm not to fussed about pre-built systems but it would be fun to build my own rig from scratch :) cheers guys.

Nice neat little build, got six core for rendering etc, 4gb ram can be upgraded in future, 1tb hdd, only thing i didnt put in was a blu ray drive. thought of making it micro atx to save space etc.

another cool little case is the Lian Li PC-A05NB or bigger, the PC-8NB.

for memory, I'd go with the corsair sticks.

Corsair XMS3 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9.

I'm not a fan of el cheapo Samsung optical drives.

my $0.02.

What do yous think of this spec?

AMD Phenom II X6 Six Core 1055T 2.80GHz (Socket AM3)

Corsair XMS3 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit

Gigabyte GA-MA785GT-UD3H AMD 785G (Socket AM3) PCI-Express DDR3 Motherboard

Antec 900 Nine Hundred Ultimate Gaming Case - Black

OCZ ModXStream Pro 600w Silent SLI Certified Modular Power Supply

Samsung SpinPoint F3 1TB SATA-II 32MB Cache - OEM

Samsung SH-S223L/BEBE 22x DVD±RW SATA Lightscribe ReWriter (Black) - OEM

Total £523.56

The G-skill RAM is only £1 more expensive and has lower latency, making it slightly better. Apart from that it looks fine. :)

if its for java etc i wouldnt bother with an antec 900 and i wouldnt get a 600w psu either, save some money get cheaper psu and case and invest in a bluray burner, ssd or something similar?

TBH case is a personal preference, take whichever one is in your budget and you like the look of. Just keep in mind that cases like the Antec 900 are quite big and heavy if that's an issue.

well like redmint says its up to personal preference which you choose, its just an antec 900 is a gaming case, i specced a m-atx build to save space and it will do all you need it to do. you can get a nice mid tower case or go for something more simple like the antec 300. as for the psu, the corsair 400 i specced is more than enough for what you need, especially if your not using dedicated gfx. the only thing there is wether or not youd want the psu to be modular or not.

Sorry to bump this guys but could you please recommend me a motherboard for this build, has to have integrated graphics and usb 3.0 support.

AMD Phenom II X6 Six Core 1055T 2.80GHz (Socket AM3)

G.Skill Ripjaw 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C8 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit

Xigmatek Asgard Midi Tower Case - Black - Purchased

Corsair CX 400W ATX Power Supply - Purchased

Samsung SpinPoint F3 1TB SATA-II 32MB Cache - OEM - Purchased

Samsung SH-S223L/BEBE 22x DVD±RW SATA Lightscribe ReWriter (Black) - OEM

Total £353.29

This is probably a daft question redmint but the case ive bought isn't a micro atx case whereas the motherboard is will this be a problem?

So I bought all the components today for my build with free dpd next day delivery at about 3pm but its still in the warehouse queue should it not have been dispatched by now?
