Hi

Budget is ideally £550 and I need everything, including Vista HP, monitor, mouse and keyboard (could stretch to £600-650 with everything). It will be used for music production (e.g. Cubase) and listening, as well as some gaming, surfing the net and (mainly) lots of Excel and Word 2007 office work.

Not sure where to start really so any help would be appreciated!

Would maybe want a better graphics card, a 5770 would be good for that budget i think.

Well that's a mainstream quad, meaning it's the same price as some high end dual cores. It outperforms those similarly priced duals in most tasks that you said you would be doing, so i don't see why not.
