Spec me! £560 Budget!

YOu could yes but then you'd need to find a Z68 board with the headers and they aren't as easily availble as the Z77 boards, if i was buying at this moment in time id stick with the Z77 board now. They are also roughly the same price.

That's like the cheapest Z77 board ever though, must be for a reason right? Like ultimate bare minimum.

Screw it. I changed the board to the wider D3H. It has more USB 3.0, an USB 2.0 headers an a tad more, for a few extra quid. The extra space on the board is also welcome.

Edit: Went back, again, to the Ivy Bridge 2500K :), I think that should be powerful enough.

Looks good but just so you know, the case doesnt have any USB 3.0 so it would purely be USB at the backpannel only.

I am aware of that, but thanks for clarify just in case.

An yes, I am back on the Ivy Bridge 2500k. Why is retail less expensive? It seems like it's the wrong way round. I always thought OEM was cheaper?

Bah. Well, I'm quite happy with that build, an I've cross checked several times an it seems okay, so I will order in a moment. :)

I think it's on the weekend sale buddy, hope all goes well.

(Edit: Both on offer, one just doesn't have the big red writing on it!)

Oh well, time to buy!

Thanks again to everybody and their help. Yes I know I am a pain in the pass, but it's all done now lol.

:)

Ordered. Muhahahahahahaha....

Don't let me down Overclockers... I gave you a second chance spending that refund on you. lol

Tip for everyone here:

Don't buy Coolermaster power supplies.

It seems they have issues with creating Sata power connectors for drives.

None of them fit my Seagate Barracuda.

And yes, it is the correct port, and yes the orientation is correct.

No I don't have any extras with the motherboard.

Edit: I had to use a knife to try flatten the pins and stress the plastic into a slightly different shape and then wrestle with the HDD and Optical drive, but yesterday I managed it anyway. Very bad cables.

CPU is idling at 28/29 in Bios. I hope this is OK, an that it doesn't go near it's 72c when gaming.

The sata power connectors are generally pretty tough, they were on my XFX and also on the one which you have.

The idle temps are fine for a 2500K as well.

And to everyone else, do buy Cooler Master power supplies, because it is completely silent compared to my XFX.

OK yes, do buy the power supplies, just don't rely on their SATA power cables?

I do have one issue which I left over from yesterday and didn't bother dealing with today, and that was the temperature isn't showing up on the front panel, nor the HDD light.

I'm using Ubuntu 12.04 LTS at the moment, so I know me messing about bending the pins and stressing the plastic on the power connectors hasn't done anything to either the optical or HDD.

I feel like I've been in a war. I'm so achy from building that computer. Didn't help that I had my back arched forever, an I was working on the floor lol.

How do I get the temperature read out and HDD lead functioning?

The leads lack polarity markings, so it's quite vague. Maybe I've plugged them in wrong?

I don't want to have to go through the hell of taking everything out again after that.

Done it.

All fans spin. I disconnected the front and top fans (clear ones with blue LEDs) routed them through the gaps so they went behind the motherboard, connected them up in the proper places.

Internal case temp is displayed on the front as 24c, which is roughly accurate since my current room temp on the digital readout on the opposite side of my desk is 24.6. HDD light flashes. Fan control for front fan and top fan work, the lower the fan speed the lower the brightness of the fans but only slightly.

Job done.

Fingers crossed it remains okay.

Thanks for the help to everyone. Now I just need Windows 7 64-bit OEM.
