You could look at buying the bundle as separate components which would be a bit cheaper but obv he'd have to OC himself
Personally I'd look at a different case and PSU, the 900 is an old design, if he really likes the look then spend a few quid more on the 902, alternatively look at the coolermasters in the similar price bracket, CM 690 Dominator Advanced, 912, Storm Scout or even the Sileo, all good cases, re the PSU whilst that is solid, for a little more you can get this XFX which is modular, more efficient and still v solid
 
I have a corsair TX650 and now wish I had gone modular when I built my PC, so the XFX should definitely be a consideration. My only other comment would be on the mobo, if the guy owns an Nvidia graphics card and would like the option of SLI in the future, then getting a UD4 over the USB3 is a must (Link), as the USB3 doesn't support SLI. However if he has no need for SLI, or an ATI card, then the USB3 will be able to accomodate xfire (but only at 16x/4x as opposed to 16x/8x on the UD4)
