Hi guys, my friend has about £700 (maybe a little more) to spend on a new rig, need some ideas for him.

He needs everything, including a monitor, though can live without a mouse and keyboard, if the saving could be put to better use.
 
Whats the main use for the rig? need an OS too?

• The PSU is semi-modular so helps cable management and its powerful also.

• The Z77 board will allow further CPU upgrades in the future, such as a i5 3570K which can be overclocked.

Well Intel are currently winning in the desktop segment.

The fact he doesnt need an OS means he can spec up a nicer case and a stronger GFX card,

Been speaking some more, he reckons he can do without a dvd drive as he has one somewhere. Also, can stretch the budget to about £780, but not much more than that.

There is always a little wiggle room in spec'ing but I'd suggest something like......

Case has two 120mm fans supplied with. The heatsink will allow better overclocking of the i5K. HDD is a bargain at that price B grade and is 1TB not 500GB. PSU power is OTT but it's a great modular unit and priced so close to the antec I figure you might as well have the extra wattage spare.
