Hey looking for a drill heavy DIY user been renovating my house from top to bottom and broke my old cheap drill.

I have been lending the in-laws 18v makita with hammer action [black and white] its a very nice drill a lot lighter than my old one and got a lot of power compare to my old one, I also really like the charge time its one of these new
Li - on power packs ? super fast charge time. My old drill did have 2 power packs but they did take HOURS to charge so i think if i got one with the newer style power pack i would only need one.

Budget of around £100 maybe push it a little.
any advice welcome thanks

Needs to be cordless! Dont want to even try putting a new ceiling up with a corded drill lol :P

Yeah i was really impressed by the lion power pack on the makita.
I Seen and played with a dewalt in my local hire centre it was the pro range and looked very well built the weight of it was shocking !

hitachi Looks to fit the price tag with the new batteries.

Altho i really did fancy one of the makitas like :P

I'd suggest looking into this setup.http://www.screwfix.com/p/erbauer-ere098kit-18v-combi-drill-driver-kit/60004

I use power tools all day long, my trusty de walts. About 7 years back i was on a firm who only used the brand i'm suggesting, after using them for a few months i though they were great for the price. Not heavy and off balanced, good power and i'm sure the charge time was good too.

For someone who is using them for diy and other light work i think you will be more than happy with them, down side is £33.00 quid more than you want to spend but you do get 1 drill and 1 driver.

Few people i spoke to suggest i stay away from that brand ? :P

Yes only light trade but bare this in mine i live in a 300 year old house that has needed EVERYTHING re done ripped out re-installed frame work walls ceilings floorboards replacing new door liners like everything then plaster board everything so its still quite heavy although its not always going to be heavy work.

I think im going to go for the dewalt http://www.screwfix.com/p/dewalt-dc...ll/22854?cm_sp=Tools-_-CordlessDrills-_-22854

The only thing that worries me is the fact that it only has 1 power pack and i live out in the sticks and the power pack fails its a 80 miles round trip to screwfix. Also whats the difference between the 1.5Ah and 3.0AH packs ? the makita i have been loaning has a 3.0AH

Will this de walt be ok with 1 power pack? baring in mind i dont need to be FLAT out using the drill all day long.

Thanks for all your help ladies and gents :P
