Hi folks, hope you can help - I am not too clued up on watches but I know some of you are :)

My parents have gave me a limit of £200 to get a watch for my birthday, I can put a bit more towards it but not much more than about £50.

I have a few ideas in my head but the watch I am leaning towards so far is the Vostok Europe K-3 Submarine in blue(http://www.watchdistrict.com/product.asp?rec=500)

I know I am way out of 2nd hand Omega Seamaster territory but I would not mind buying a 2nd hand watch if it means getting a better watch!

All suggestions welcome :)

Cheers,

Craig

What a stroke of luck I found this thread.

I have that watch in black, its really nice and heavy (in a good way), the back is good (see through), keeps good time, waterproofing is brilliant, the second hand moves 4 movements per second so it is quite smooth (not as smooth as an Omega, but then it is a 10th of the price). Really happy with it overall, and quite exclusive really.

I paid £135 from Alsal watches in the Strand, so go there and save yourself a bit. I think they are the only high street watch dealers for Vostok Europe in the UK.

edit: Okay, you're in Newcastle, but they will post I'm sure.

Well I have been hunting for a new watch the last few weeks as I have just got engaged and the financee now would like to get me something. I didnt want a ring so I thought about a watch. Ended up going for a SEIKO Kinetic Titanium one for £250, this model is only just out plus the model I went for has a white face which was very hard to find and rare. Looked around very nearly got a TAG and others in the region of £600+ but to be honest I really liked the Seiko and im wearing it now.

Look at the Seiko range as they are well made watches I have had a cheaper one before and had no problems.

Cheers for the reply :)

I have had a look around the web and posted on other forums and I am now down to four watches, which are:

Vostok K-3 Submarine (Linky)
Tissot Diver Seastar 1000 Automatic (Linky)
Tissot Ballade III Automatic (Linky)
Grovana Coral Reef II Automatic (Linky)

I cant decide! I am leaning more towards the Seastar but it is quite a big watch and I dont have massive wrists!

Sorry to go ot, but does anyone have any experience with sturmanskie watches? eg: http://www.russianmilitarywatches.c...skie-2623-0241181-90002-more-images.html#here

Also, what model is the rolex which had a leather strap, polished metal frame(not up with the technical terms) and then a kind of metal flap which had 12
bars to a central point to protect the face, while allowing you to tell the time through the gaps between the 12 bars. It could be flapped up also. I'm sure it was a rolex. Liked the look of it.

of the four you have shortlisted, I'd say the K3 is the nicest looking.

Although the Grovana Coral Reef II Automatic looks nice too.
