Hi

I am planning on upgrading my 19" Viewsonic VP930 and was looking to get a the tasty 24" to replace it.:D

What are the best 24" monitors for about £300-£350.

Main uses are gaming/watching movies/general surfing.

I am looking at buying in the next month or two.

Thanks

If your looking to game and watch films you really ,imo, need a PVA panel and the only one available in your price range is the OcUk one.

All the others you need to add £30-50 +.

Would observe that the OcUk panel is a bargain PROVIDED you get a good one.

If viewing angles are not a problem for you then you could have a look at the TN panels available - I believe the Samsung 245B is a decent panel but have no personal experience ; just other thread comments

If you've got some time go and have a look at ..... your local shop and see what you think ref TN or PVA.

I bought the BenQ 241W - a PVA panel very pleased with improvement over Samsung 205BW a TN panel

The thread starting 'Bargain' - with over 200000 views and over 3000 responses is the one to read to give you ideas as to both quality and problems with OcUk panel.

Slightly on the long side! Enjoy :D

Read the newer half of it, what a marathon:p, it was quite interesting though and I think I will be putting in my order next week.

can you sum up what it says in there? lol :)

Well a quick summary of the main points:

- Build quality is not top quality, but then it's a bargain price
- The monitor will wobble if your desk is not very solid as the stand is of low quality
- Nice monitor as long as you get the VA panel (see next point)
- There is/was a panel lottery - there used to be a mix of TN & VA panels. OcUK can now guarantee you will get a VA panel can't guarantee exactly which one. (MVA, A-MVA, PVA, S-PVA, etc)

Overall the actual panel is top quality, and imo that is the most important thing.
