I like the look of the 24" Samsung SM-245B - looks nice, it's a SyncMaster & the 22" version got a lot of good reviews.

My budget is £300. Anything better I can get?

Has to be VESA compliant so I can mount it on the wall.

[Edit]
Also needs tilt at least. Swivel and the ability to turn it on it's side would be nice, but not needed.

Thanks,
Craig.

Highly recommend the Hyundai W240D-TN, only a couple of quid over your price mark

i was considering the samsung but so glad i went for the hyundai in the end, then again im not the best person for giving advice on monitors, it took me 4 months to choose what monitor to buy :p and even then i just got annoyed with being on a 19" and dove right in :D

its VESA compliant, can tilt and swivel, dont know if it turns on its side...havent tried that yet

aye the -TN one, its very handy having all those connectors, ive got my Wii plugged into the component, PC in DVI, laptop in VGA, and plan to have an xbox in the HDMI :D

I recieved it at work yesterday and was gaurding it like an angry dog all day, wasnt going to let anyone get there grubby finger prints on the nice shiney casing :p

chose this over the new benQ one thats set to pre-order as im impatient, so you might want to look at that one too!

lmfao... your sig is amazing.

If you want to go cheap get the OcUK one... i have it and its amazing.

Another vote for the OcUK/Yuraku. I have a 22" Samsung sitting on the desk next to my Yuraku and the difference in image quality is silly. A TN panel just looks lame next to a VA.

TBH, I don't understand the point of 24" TNs at all. It's like buying a monster truck with a lawnmower engine inside.

How manufacturing works is that theres a few companies out there who make the screen and they then sell their panels onto companies who then place it in the outershell and resell it, DGM does this therefore the panel you get is the same as the panels from higher end monitors, however they cut some corners e.g. a cheap stand and psu probaly isnt as great however since your using a vesa stand you wont even using the stand that comes with it

The panel i got was a "M240UW01 V2" this is the same panel that comes with some of the benq monitors such as the FP241VW and FP241WZ, however everyone gets a different panel however they all the panels they use are pva panels but i got the best one you can get and its awesome, there is a higher risk of the panel not being up to scratch however you can deal with ocuk directly and they will sort it out for free so its a risk but i reckon its worth it

I just read through a few of the posts on the huge thread for this screen and quite a few people have had to RMA theirs. I'm wondering if this is just because so many people ordered it?

I'm not really sure whether to risk it or not. Seems too good to be true as many people said in the thread :p

The batches got mixed up somehow (some were dud though i guess)

Hence people getting TN panels

Hence a fair few rma's

They said they have sorted this problem out

I did get a TN though but took it back next day and swapped easily

Hope that helps

Another vote for the OCUK 24".

One reason it's cheaper is that DGM buy panels from different sources and use them for a batch of panels (which is how a TN batch slipped in with the VA's). All of the VA panels seem to be good though as when you look up the serial numbers they are the same panels as used in Samsung/BenQ etc depending on which version you get. Have a look on the thread for what panel is which, but they are a basic panel so you lose some of the bells and whistles that the more expensive screens have but I just wanted a good solid screen and didn't mind not having the extra options.

I've had mine a while now (look at my posts on the model thread) and still think it's a steal.

It's performed really well (I play BF2 mainly) and I cannot fault it.

Mine arrived yesterday, yes just missed out on the 'this week only offer'. I thought it was a steal at £199.99 and now its criminal not to buy one (or two or three) at £179.99.:D

I have got the AU-M240UW01-V0 panel, which is the same as the £400+ BenQ FP241W.

Haven't noticed any dead/lazy pixels so I am very happy with the monitor. But as mentioned in previous posts the stand quality is not very good but does the job as long as you have a sturdy desk.:p:D

My OCUK 24" monitor arrived yesterday too.

Only complaint it some 'beeding light' at either side of the screen. There's about 1cm of pixels which are marginally brighter than all the others.

I don't know whether I'll RMA though, it's not major.
